Hi everyone. What you are doing is amazing, thank you.
Sorry I do not have a blog or website. I teach high school children(inappropriate for our school district).
Keep doing what you're doing, and know that I'LL be wearing YOUR t-shirt to promote!!

""We Are Hungry!"" by Christine ~ Mocha Club

Thanks so much for your comment, Lena.

Here's a response we received from our partners in Sudan (Make Way Partners):

It's complicated - and we don't have all the answers.

We do know at least two things:

1)Because there is not proper oversight for distribution of government aid there is an extremely high level of corruption, to the extent that we, as a non-profit organization, had to resort to buying WFP food (from corrupt businessmen who had seized it after the UN drop) so that those starving at the Internally Displaced People (IDP) camps could have food. Large government distributors often do not stay on the ground and have people detailed out to oversee distribution all the way down to the point of need.

2)MWP is prepared and equipped with people on the ground that can and do take personal responsibility to manage all funds, food and other resources from the point of purchase, through transit, and to distribution all the way down to the point of need. Be it at an orphanage, the IDP camps, or to starving people in the desert.

Because there are few who stay on the ground in these lawless zones, there is little documentation about what is happening to the billions of dollars going through 'government aid'. Therefore one of our goals is to educate people about what is happening on the ground. With this documentation, we as a Church (Body of Christ) can then make wise stewardship choices of our resources. I hope this helps you and others in your journey.

Why doesn't the UNWFP (?) have anyone on the ground distributing the food they acquire? They know this is often the situation--of dictators/tyrants hoarding the food instead of it getting to the starving people--if the food isn't directly distributed by the organization providing it. If they're not going to make sure this food gets to those who need it, why are they even bothering? They should just give it to organizations who ARE there on the ground providing real help.

"Some good news from Sudan" by April

This story brought tears to my eyes. Praise God for these accomplishments that have happened over the past couple of years & i pray that these people will not only continue to grow in Christ & learn to forgive but one day they'll be able to go & help others who have gone through a crisis like this. I pray that the mocha club can continue to miniter to these people in many ways.
Thanks for posting this story!
