Hey everybody, Jeromy Deibler here, and I wanted to share some exciting news…After a lot of time and preparation, we are releasing our new FFH CD, Wide Open Spaces, today - Tuesday, May 11th – to stores nationwide. It’s a journal of sorts that speaks of our last three years: our time in Africa, my MS diagnosis, our daughter Sadie’s birth, and more.  We can’t wait for you to hear it and look very forward to hearing from you and seeing you somewhere on the road.

Jennifer and I left a part of ourselves in Africa, so a lot of this album reflects that.  We’ll be supporting Mocha Club projects through this season and we urge you to join us in helping Africans!

It’s been a little over a week since the Addison Road and Sanctus Real tour came to a close. I can’t believe it’s already over. I had the time of my life meeting new people and seeing new places. Let me preface what I’m about to say by saying that I LOVED EVERY MINUTE of this tour. I will carry these memories for the rest of my life!

But, honestly, for me, the longer the tour went on, the more it felt like “work.”  That’s okay though, because you’re supposed to love your job, right?!  There were many conversations had about how it’s ALL (late nights, early mornings, BBQ for dinner five shows in a row, broken down buses, RVs, vans, etc.) worth it.  It’s all worth it because every night we watch it pay off.  It pays off because these artists meet people at every show who have been touched by their music, some who would say they have even had their lives changed by it. More importantly, though, it all pays off because people halfway across the world are getting the chance to have access to clean drinking water for the first time… ever!

Yep… I’d say it pays off.

Hello! Been a while since I’ve blogged. We had a little time off over Easter, and we’re about 4 shows in on this run. I thought it might be fun to give you an idea of our recent travel itinerary so you can get a real feel for road life!

Tuesday: Fly from Nashville to Oklahoma City. Show at Oklahoma Baptist University.

Wednesday: Start the drive from Oklahoma City to Waverly, Ohio in RV. The drive was a total of 15 hours and 36 minutes. We drove a total of 11 hours in the RV on Wednesday. 1 girl, 4 boys, 48 square feet of walking/moving space…  (Jenny, Ryan, and baby Anniston took a flight to show)

Thursday: Drive the remaining 4 hours and 36 minutes to the show in Waverly, OH. I met the awesome MC Table staffers. They LOVED Africa, and I love people who love Africa!

Friday: Leave from Waverly, OH at 7am to drive to show in Lancaster, PA. Arrive to Lancaster @ 4ish PM. That’s about 8 hours in the RV with 7 people

Saturday: Leave Lancaster (from the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in, it’s okay, the rest of the band agrees) at 6am. Drive about 5 and a half hours to Zanesville, OH. Make it to Zanesville, OH for afternoon show. Finish the show and have the rest of the evening off. This was a much needed and enjoyed break for everyone in the Addison Road camp! (Thanks to my parents for coming to see me!)

Sunday: Drive from Zanesville, OH to Greenwood, IN. Anniston and I walked around outside the awesome venue and talked to some duckies. She loved it!

Monday: SLEEP IN AND A DAY OFF IN COLUMBUS, OHIO Ryan S. found an awesome outdoor mall area for us to spend our day off. Jenny, Annie, and I walked around and shopped (looked), while the rest of the band kind of went their separate ways for some chill time. It was awesome!

Tuesday: Sleep in again (woohoo!) and drive about an hour to our show in Mansfield, Ohio. That’s where I’m writing to you from right now. Should be a great day!

Coming up we have 5 shows in a row, then we’re about done. I’ll catch up with you guys soon!

Time management. I know, you just cringed too didn’t you?  It’s not an easy thing. Actually, maybe it is for you, but for me, managing my time efficiently is a constant struggle.

I keep finding things about being on the road that reminds me of being in Africa. The biggest one is taking time to reflect on my day. It’s not that I don’t want to, it’s that I don’t make time to. This is not an excuse. If you’ve been to Africa, or on any other service-related trip, maybe you understand this. You wake up and go, go, go, all day long, then you go to bed because it’s time to go to bed. This was my experience. I saw so many new and incredible things, yet I didn’t have time to reflect on and process each of those things because when my head hit the pillow, I was out. It’s the same for me out here on the road. I’m going, going, going, all day long, and having a blast doing it, but it’s hard to find time to reflect and process it all. For me, this is an important part of my life.

I am still learning from my trip to Africa. Not only am I learning from the experiences and people I met, I’m learning about myself. And I’m gathering that my experience being on the road is going to end up being the same way.

Lesson #2 learned from the road: Find and take the time to reflect on your day.

It’s easy to run from things happening in your life when you’re busy. Don’t run from them; stop and process them, confront them, be grateful for them. You’ll learn from them… now and tomorrow. I promise.

This is a cool job, y’all. Even when you don’t get to your hotel until 3:30am and have to be ready to go at 9:30am the next morning for a six hour drive to Chicago… it’s still pretty cool. If sacrificing a few hours of sleep can and will give clean water to Africans, count me in.

This is Sanctus Real playing the first show of the tour in Albuquerque, NM. Behind the band it says, "Reaching the families of the earth" - I think that saying is appropriate for what this tour is all about!

A first for me! It was incredible. I was in the car with the Travis, Ryan G, and our drummer from Addison Road, and we collectively decided it was a good idea to play "Wide Open Spaces" by the Dixie Chicks while crossing the Dam. (Actually, it may have been my idea. Oh the things you get away with when you're the only girl!)

Mt. Rushmore - another first for me. Travis, me, Ryan Gregg, and Jeff and our friends George, Tom, Teddy, and Abe. This picture is one of my favorites from the trip so far. It sums up how most of our time has been spent; cracking up! (Well, except for the whole RV fire thing. That wasn't really funny.)
