The following report is from Rev. Sam Oppong, our director in Ghana. Your participation in Mocha Club allows us to help projects like these.

*FOOD*

We started with the feeding of thirty one (31) school children, providing one square meal a day (when they are in school). The feeding program is on going and will continue until the school term ends in late December.

Christmas gift for you!

Mocha Club Friends,

Have you heard of Jeremy Cowart’s photography book about Africa called Hope in the Dark? We want to give you this book for free, as a thank you for all you are doing to help Africa. The hopeful people of this continent continue to face great challenges, and your time and your contributions make a difference. And this book is incredible. Below are some screen shots from the book and you can see more about it at www.hopeinthedark.com. Here is how you can get it free – get 4 more people on your team over the holidays! AND…

…We are equipping you to make it EASY! HERE IS WHAT WE’VE DONE:

  • New people who join your team through the special invite by December 27th get a free download of the Ginny Owens Christmas CD! Africa + Incentive = good!!!
  • The invite system is SO much easier to use! You can send to multiple friends at once, and it saves your custom text if you change it. So you can send an email blast to a lot of people at once.
  • New stuff on the home page to get people fired up!

“Geez, Mocha Club, you are going to give me this awesome book, and all I have to do is help Africa by sending some emails? I love you Mocha Club.” Gosh, we love you too. As soon as your team grows four more people from the special invites you send, we’ll get your mailing address, and that book will hit the road. Remember that the promotion ends on midnight on the 27th, so get crackin!

During this season, isn’t it bizarre to think how much we have compared to people in Africa? We thank you for thinking broadly about the world year round…and now is the right time to help others to think that way as well. Will you please send some invites?

Do you need your logon info so you can invite people? Email me!

“‘Where are the young women?’ I asked them.
‘We are the young women,’ she said. ‘Life has just been hard on us.’”

What keeps us apart from one another? Some would say an ocean. Some would say cultural differences. What must we change about ourselves to break down the wall that separates us? I think it begins by abandoning the pointed finger of blame. It begins by coming with humble spirits and a sincere desire to know one another. Otherwise, it becomes an us/them mentality, and the wall simply becomes thicker. Welcome to the face of a child who is so desperate for an embrace by the rest of the world.”

hope
“People ask me, ‘Doesn’t it paralyze you to walk so closely and intimately with suffering?’ ‘No,’ I tell them. ‘If I’ve learned anything from my time in Africa, it’s that though the suffering is overwhelming, so too is the hope.’”

HOW TO SEND THE SPECIAL INVITE:

1. Log in at www.mochaclub.org

Orphans in Zimbabwe

Posted by christine, December 6, 2006

Mocha Club friends,

Some of you who have been in Mocha Club since the beginning will remember one of the first updates we sent on some orphans we are supporting in a village in Zimbabwe. We are continuing to fund these orphans, and we wanted to share some reports we’re getting back.

Click here to read descriptions of the children…and know that your participation in Mocha Club is making a difference in each of their lives!
